Hi all, What would be acceptable gap between the lower and upper receiver After Assembly?

The gap or lack of is typically only a cosmetic thing. Are you mating a billet upper to a forged lower? What size of gap are you talking about?

If my cat can crawl through it is a bit to much.
I really don't have a"number" for that. Minor movement is OK and if it was a problem for me mentally I would just stick a foam ear plug in there or a tiny shim of plastic to tighten it up. It won't really make a difference unless the shake is huge. I've had some that ahd a gap but thanks to the lug size/location of the hole they were still tight as a drum.

I have a few ar15s so I understand if there's a little bit of wiggle in there but this one I could put a .006 automotive feeler gauge when the upper and lower are together. It just seems a lot more than any other one I've had. I don't think it's going to affect accuracy anything it just a little OCD on my part

I don't think it's going to affect accuracy anything it just a little OCD on my part I'm sure you know about fixing the wiggle but short of going through a half dozen upper/lower set up we are pretty much stuck. I have a dozen or so lower so I can always mix or match but I don't bother. I've had to file rear lucks down on tight ones and lightly sand the back of the uppers on others. I suppose the gun I've won most of my Gold with has about twice the slop you are seeing. It's an old OLY UM upper and an OLY lower. Tolerances were pretty lose back then. I saw a guy send a new 22 Nosler upper back to Midway the other day because it wasn't "tight" on his lower. I'm glad he has that much patience but I suspect the new one will be the same..LOL Nothing wrong with a little OCD. All of us have it in one area or another. Greg

Well I was smart enough?? ( lol) to buy upper and lower From a local company here in Phoenix. I took it down there not necessarily for the fit but Because it had a decent size chip missing in the front lug where the takedown pin goes thru. I So they found a upper that fit much better and no chip😁 They were very cool about the whole thing!! No charge. Thanks for the input!!
