I just purchased a Black Hole barreled upper in .223 with a 1 in 8 twist.
What are the best bullet weights for this poly twist?
blue skies!

The 1:8 will usually handle the 77's without an issue. If you go much above that you may have problems. It should shoot 55's pretty well though it may be a bit fast for 40's and 50's. It should shine at 62+ grains and should drive tacks with the 69 grain Sierra MK's. Being poly rifled it will tend to shoot a bit faster than a similar load in a normally rifled barrel. Greg

I'm sure others will chime in here soon, but from what I gather fro 50/55 gr up to about 77 or 80. Better question is what do you want to do with it and what ranges are you going to be shooting?

Is there a basic breakdown of what twist works with which bullet weights?
1-7
1-8
1-9
This would be for my 14.5" barrel build.

Twist rate has to do more w/ bullet length and a bit less w/ weight...for the .223 Rem/5.56 NATO the twist rate to weight ratio looks like this:
1:7 Twist -- Up To 90 grains
1:8 Twist -- " " 77 grains
1:9 Twist -- " " 69 grains
The above bullet weights are generally long for caliber in the .223 and tend to be LD/VLD bullets like the Sierra SMKS and Bergers.

I'm considering the .264, do you have a recommended bullet weight? 20" barrel if that matters.
