Anyone want to chime in and make a decision for me? I have been a 6.5x6.8 shooter since the very beginning. I haven’t played with much other than the Nosler CC 123’s. My good friend and I were having some dinner conversation and the 224 Valkyrie came up. I immediately thought of the 22x6.8. We started looking at loads and performance and talking about how much fun it would be to vaporize 2 liter soda bottles with a tiny bullet moving warp factor 5. I had a barrel in my cart. Then I started thinking about the 6x6.8 and now I cannot decide. I am thinking whatever way I go I want a 24” barrel. This is just going to be a range toy and a coyote and groundhog getter. I have a ton of 6.8 brass parts and bolts etc. just need the barrel and correct die bushings for sizing. So....feel free to convince me which one to get!
Thanks in advance. Dan

I would say both but....lol
Either is good but the 22X6.8 is like an atom bomb when it hits. I can say categorically that the 22X6.8 will walk over the other 22's. Physics is physics. The Nosler is limited to 55,000. The 22X6.8 runs nicely at 57,000. The Valkyrie even run at the same pressure has less case capacity. I can't find out how much but we're thinking 222 Magnum size. No one is going to shoot 90/100 grainers and give up a laser shooting REAL varmint bullets. The 1:7 twist will eliminate many thinner jacketed bullets and maybe some even heavier jacketed. Also it will be throated for those big bullets and the free bore with the ighter ones will be horrendously long.
My vote is the laser. If I were throwing deer in the mix I'd look hard at the 6X6.8 but for your needs I would go fast.

Greg, thanks! You sold me on the laser. Have you guys been sticking to the 50’s or has anyone tried a 40 or even a 35? Keep in mind this is a total toy build. Just something to play with. Also, what seater is everyone using that works best?

Also, what seater is everyone using that works best? Lots if 50's. I've shot a bunch of 40's in the Nosler. You'll want to shoot Nosler or Sierra if you go with an 8. The VMAX won't take the speeds. A 9 would be a good choice if you want to go up to a 69. I prefer the 8 as I might want to shoot 77'd or 80's if I want to poke paper/steel out yonder. Plus the extra rotational speed really perks things up. Greg
