Here is my latest build. I got home a couple days ago to the remaining parts just beckoning to be put together! The parts list is as follows: Upper: Black Rain Ordnance FDE Upper Black Hole Weaponry 20" Rifle Length .204 Ruger Poly 3 Barrel 1:10 VLTOR Stainless Gasblock with Colt Gas Tube Smith Enterprises Chrome BCG BRO Charging Handle Weaver Grand Slam SS OPtic with ADM Mount in FDE and Black Custom Engraved Harford Dust Cover "Smile, Wait for Flash" Midwest Industries SS FDE 15" FF Tube YHM Bi-pod Adapter Harris Bi-pod Lower: Black Rain Ordnance FDE Lower DPMS Misc. Chrome Parts Wilson Combat Single Stage TTU Magpul FDE Moe Grip VLTOR A1 ARM Clubfoot Stock KNS Gen. 2 Anti Rotation Pins Colt Rifle Buffer Tube, Buffer and Spring Magpul 20 Round FDE PMAG Hope to get out and shoot after I load some .204 for it to eat. The different colors of FDE match fairly close. The biggest difference being the anodized parts(MI FF Tube and ADM Mount) are noticeably more metallic. I think it turned out better than expected. It is my first FDE build with a FDE Upper and Lower, BRO just seemed like the obvious choice for the set. I really like the accent of the chrome pieces with the small amounts of black. It is not too heavy considering the length of barrel, I would have to guess around 8.5 to 9 pounds. The start! Finished!

If one were to make one now I think I'd go with one in 20 to 24 inches in length. Besides the velocity decrease on this round what do you think?
I've thought if I went with 20 then what's the detriment in an 18"? Is it better to go mid on a 18-20" bbl or rifle? I've never messed with the 204 before so I'm loaded with questions.

I've thought if I went with 20 then what's the detriment in an 18"? Is it better to go mid on a 18-20" bbl or rifle? I've never messed with the 204 before so I'm loaded with questions. I shoot several 204's and a 20 Tactical, the 204 ballistic twin. All mine run 24 to 25 1/2" barrels. In any 20 cal velocity is your friend. I prefer a minimum 22" but think a 24" is almost mandatory if you want to rock and roll down range. The 20 LBC I am shooting has a 20" tube. I am getting some basic 204 speeds out of it but if I had a 24" tube on it I would be exceeding the 204 speed by a minimum of 125-150 FPS and that is hauling!! Mine has a bit of free bore so I am able to push it a bit harder and this is helping up the velocity. I believe the 20" is a lot quicker handling in the AR platform but if you stay away from the bull barrel profiles the heavy barrel in a 24" while heavy is not too unwieldy. If it were a close in calling rifle with shots on coyotes up close and personal the 18-20 might have a place but I believe these guns are really designed to reach out and don't want to hinder myself unnecessarily. If I had to hump it all day through the boonies I would go with a lighter profile but would still want that extra length. YMMV Greg

Awesome build!
I just noticed that the lower has a selector for full auto, is it set up as a semi or full? Would be interesting to see how controlable it would be in the .204R.
I can just imagine prairie dogs or coyotes being bomarded with full auto!

What kind of velocity is that producing. That looks pretty mean. I am certain there isn't any feed issues. Did Greg have a part in this?

One of the advantages is you can shoot the long bullets at mag length. The main problem is head thrust. You have to hold it back in an AR. If you ran it in a bolt action it would really be a screamer. Greg and I worked on this together. If I remember right this was the first project Greg and I worked together on.
