Wow, That's great! Hope she's proud of that buck she picked off. Done much, much better that I have. Lots of does, but no bucks. Hopefully next year I'll score one of the lottery doe tags.
Hey, on the Hornady 87gr SP (I'm assuming the "Hornady Interlock") what are you running for powder and speeds? I'm running with 25.7gr of Benchmark and coming out with speeds of 2670 and another .2gr gets me right at 2700 fps.

Just went and looked I am shooting 25.7 of 4895, I haven't shot it through chono to check speed yet.
I have had good luck from this powder on my hog and deer rds, and great luck out of 8208 on everything thing smaller then 87 out of the 6x45

Hi Will, what brass? OAL?
For hunting I am doing 2750-2770fps with the hornady 87gr v-max out of a 20" Lothar Walter LW50 below max load of Varget using a VLD magazine at 2.650. No signs of flat primers or extrusion marks. Those v-maxes are good performers with BC .400 G1 and great terminal performance in line with Nosler BTs ..but better and cheaper.
The goal with the BHW 24 incher is to use the slower powders and Berger 95gr berger VLD that I use in other lengths with great success too. I think I can safely reproduce the 6x47 in 24" running berger 88s at 2900 and 95s at 2800+. The 6x45 loss in capacity is compensated by the hard brass (Nato casings) and the VLD mag.
I do not post the precise measures but give some guidelines to develop your own. This must be done very slowly with careful case selection and with all the variables in mind. Not for everyone that is for sure. Why Varget? well for hunting we go from 100 to 30 below here and Varget, even with those differences in the mercury, can keep the spreads with differences in the single digits.
Are these loads needed all the time? no. I have soft points, lighter and heavier and mostly simply use 87hornady SP or 90gr game king SP at 2650fps which are a very well priced, fast expanding bullets.
Thanks.

I've run LC, PMC and FC and like the LC & PMC. The primer pockets on the FC are too tight and I've had primers hang up. My OAL *just* fits into a standard 20 round PMAG mag- right at 2.258. BTW, my speeds are out of a 3 poly 18" 6x45 AR barrel. So V-Max for whitetail deer hunting or varments? I loaded up a bunch of V-Max for coyotes (can't remember those loads offhand tho') and didn't load them for deer because of their thicker hide and the super quick expansion vs. Penetration issues. I've run Varget for .223 but I don't like how it meters so I switched to the Benchmark which has prevent to be a good performer. I've discovered that I don't have as much leeway in 6x45. I've tried Barnes & Nosler and the best performers at this point are the Hornady V-Max, Hornady Interlock (87gr) and Sierra GameKing 85gr BTHPs. I'd have loved to use the Barnes, and I could load them, but the accuracy in the shorter 6x45 cartridge sucked because I had to load them so deep.

LC, PMC (the hard one) and other nato are plentiful and good performers. FC is soft brass and the primers go from very hard to very soft too pronto. I actually do not have any 'Bad' loads in 6x45. This round is so forgiving to reload that you can piss in the case and will probably produce submoa groups. I have no hope with the 105 amax or any VLD over 100gr due to the 1:9twist of the new 24" barrel but I will try to make some decent progress with the Berger 95gr. The 105 hornady shoots great out of a LW barrel 1:8 but before anyone goes and produces the longest possible load for long range one needs to know COAL limitation both in the mag and the chamber. These are some loads I was able to feed from a long ogive magazine: From left to right... - 6x45 6mm 85gr Sierra GK. - .233 REM 55gr FMJ reload. - 6x45 6mm 105gr Hornady Amax - 6x45 6mm 100gr Sierra SP hunting round. Home made VLD. this was the first prototype so came out a little cheese LOL!! ... but hey, it works!. Here some bullets tested. I have more tested now. these are old pics... From left to right... .243/6mm Barnes TTSX 80gr .243/6mm Barnes TSX 85gr .243/6mm Sierra Game King 85gr .243/6mm Hornady SP 87gr .243/6mm Sierra Game King 90gr FMJ .243/6mm Sierra Game King 100gr .243/6mm Hornady A-MAX 105gr (Target bullet) .224 55gr FMJ (GI load) .224 62gr Penetrator (green tip) .224 70gr Barnes TSX .224 75gr Hornady BTHP match .224 77gr Barnes VLD
