So I am really considering this for my next upper as it will be really inexpensive to get into considring I just need to get a barrel but I wanted to make sure about mags... I typically use PMAGS but do have some mil spec mags also.

I assume is for a 5.56. Anyhow, if the mag body and lips are ok they should work fine. If you suffer from some of the early sticky followers it can be solved with a modern follower. They are around $4 for a pack of 3.

Sorry I am speaking specifically to 300 blackout since I was in that forum. I heard that they use the same magazines as a 5.56 since it is just a shortened 556 loaded with a .308 bullet. thx Pat

Yes. It works the same. Should an old magazine start to sag just pickup also a new brand spring with extra tension. Everything else is the same just a "bigga" bullet.

I've shot lots of .300 Blackout using both GI mags and P-Mags and have yet to have a problem. I'm shooting both factory ammo and ammo loaded by a local business and all function without a glitch. I'm using a CMMG 16" upper with carbine length gas system and both type of mags fit with no problems. No tight mags or having to "modify".

If it is a 30 round pmag they will work fine but the 5-20 rd pmags will not really work well. To get the best oiut of those you want the older pmags that do not have a M on the bottom of the mag.
