Does BHW make a copy of the MK12 Mod1 barrel? 18" heavy profile rifle length G.S. threaded muzzle and 1x7 twist in 416 SS. I would love to see the poly rifling in 1x7 for this Super accurate 5.56x45 DMR. I am planning A DMR/SPR clone and have found all the parts I need except the barrel

Do you have the ability to poly rifle in 1x7 twist? I could use any heavy profile barrel between 18" and 20" But I would realy like a threaded muzzle. I have found a DPMS MK12 copy but it is cut rifling in 1x8. The intended use would be 77g and up and I believe this is too slow a rate.

1 in 8 is the only twist they are making for now. I have not heard about anything faster for the future.

Sorry to ask, what do you want the 1:7 for? You will be loosing some precious momentum. Most national match, SAS, DMR, SPRs are in the 8 twist. Thanks.

I believe I would need 1x7 for the heavier bullets i.e 80g balistic tips for hunting. But if that is the correct rate for the DMR rifle, then that will have to be that.

The question is will the mag do it? Most of them limit you to the 77 grainers and I see that they are within about 0.001 in length so you may well have a mag length load there. It will be a box o experimenting on that one IMHO. Greg

The actual mk12 spr is optimized for the mk262 mo1 round. 77g smk loaded to about 3200fps. This should be capable of cleanly havest our small deer where I hunt. Ours run about 180 to 200 lbs. I will begin to develope loads between the 77g and around 80g. I am looking into Barns tsx bullets as well as a few balistic tips. But I gotta get the upper built first. I found a barrel that is as close to the original Douglas barrel as I have found. White oak armament is mfg an spr barrel in 1x7 twist. The only difference is the color and the specific profile is a tick different. as soon as I get the funds I will be ordering one. The lead time is reported to be about 8 weeks. I am also planning on Duracoating the barrel and upper in Woodland cammo type design.

Where are you getting that 3200 fps spec? My understanding was that mk262 (mod 0 and 1) is for 2750 fps from an 18" barrel. Hottest I've heard of was a little over 2800 from a 20" and that was a very hot load, no reusing that brass.. I've run the hottest load for the 77 gn SMK in my Sierra manual (2700fps using TAC powder IIRC) and there are definite pressure signs from my White Oak SPR barrel. The new hodgdon manual tops out just over 2800 from a 24" barrel.
