In late March, I built an upper for a buddy of mine in South Texas. He wanted something a little... eclectic, but simple! His choice was a 20" bull barreled .264LBC (type 1 at the time), with the stainless finish. Mated everything to match the FDE that he had on the lower. So the upper has a Hogue Overmold in Tan and is matched well with the Aero Precision M4 upper receiver. When he received the upper, his test shots at 100yards were easily sub-.50MOA. So far, he's tested out to about 500 yards, maybe further depending on the story (hahah). Nonetheless, once he started shooting it more and more, it simply got easier and easier to shoot! Fast forward to November 2011. He is a guide for a hunting ranch in South Texas, and between March and November, I had moved down to South Texas for work. This hunting ranch brings all sorts of folks, including the one and only J. Guthrie. More about that at a later time. Some folks have come down to the ranch, and as a guide, he takes his rifle with him, which has the upper I built for him attached. Some are curious, others are downright non-believing that it will take animals down. It's an AR... well.... an AR with a bigger bore, and a lot more goodies to offer. The AR in it's completed form:

Here's a pictorial of the carnage this little boy's done since March. Hogs:Whitetail Deer:Exotics (Non-native species to Texas):Axis Buck:Oryx:Oryx: Blackbuck:These are all photos to date. Some more animals (hogs mostly) were taken with the rifle, but down here, once a hog, always a hog... and they all look about the same. The kids in the photos above, were actually the shooters in the photo. The photo with the two boys, the kiddo on the left made the kill shot. These kills are from my Salesman, and pro-staffer, whiplash. More photos to come with predator season starting shortly. During deer season, that's all that happens! Stay tuned. OH.... by the way.... all the animals taken to date, have been taken with handloaded 120gr Amax over 28.2g of Varget. I'm sure we chrono them and we could get a little better with 8208, but Varget works too!

The heart of one of the oryx. The oryx this came from is the second oryx, the larger horned one. Animal was shot at 250 yards, with the A-Max, 120gr. Entered the shoulder area, and penetrated the heart and passed through the opposite side for an exit. ETA: The knife is a K-bar, with 7" blade. This gives a good scale of the heart. The oryx were both 400pound animals Very good eating from what I hear.
