I kind of look at this to mean that if you aren't observant enough to notice that a 30 caliber loaded case is being placed in a 223 rifle while drinking coffee, BS'sing with your buddies and generally loosing focus PERHAPS you shouldn't be there that day. The old bugaboo about dropping a 20 gauge round in a 12 gauge and merrily trying to kill a pheasant with the next round fired was what I grew up with. I find it hard to believe you can get a neck expanded to 30 caliber up into a 223 chamber enough to let the bolt close fully. Now I have to get some BLK cases and prove it to myself. Greg

I have no plans for ever getting a 300blackout (I use a6x45 -but only because i live in WA which is one of only 4 western states that still do not allow 5.56 for deer.) BUT IF I DID get one: I would have the chamber cut with an extra long neck so as to allow me to use reloads with a max. case length of 1.6" That would help to prevent any of my reloads from finding there way into the wrong chamber , factory ammo would still fit, and there would be just a little bit more room for powder with some of the light bullet loads. here is another link snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3067632
