i bought a barrell from a vender at a gun show it is marked 6.8m ss 1:10 bhw and im building me an ar15 ,i bought a box of ammo for it and have always thought that the bore looked too big so i put the tip of one of the bullets in the end of the barrell and it was very loose and it went all the way in to where the brass got wider ,so i dont think this barrell is marked correctly how can i find out what caliber this bhw barrell is so i can oder my last part , the bolt and carrier to finish the gun

The best way is to call them today and give them the Identifier info near the barrel extension.

yes it was 6.8 ammo and i ck 7.62by39 and when put into chamber it does not fit and the 6.8 ammo fits good when put at the back of the barrel maybe its a 300 blackout , dont have a round to ck it yet

A 6.8 won't fit in a 300 Blackout. The Blackout is a 223 case and smaller than the 6.8 by a good margin. Greg

I have several caliber uppers sitting here.
Took a 6.8 round and put in the end of my 6.8 barrel (no thread adapter or device attached) and the round goes all the way to the main diameter of the projectile with about 2mm from the .277 diameter projectile.
Tried in s 300 chambered barrel and as Greg stated, because the chamber is designed around the 223 case it's too narrow.
I think it's a 6.8 barrel with the 1/10 twist.
What ammo was it you tried? It's quite possible it was hornady ammo and they are loaded short therefore when placed inside the barrel it will be loose as its not at the ogive. Also could be factory loaded Remington too.
Mine I tried was a handloaded 95gr TTSX loaded to 2.230
