I thought I'd start a thread on this one so I could chronicle how it develops. Kiz did a teasing peek at the barrel in her thread a short time ago so I want to share the rest of the story. I'm busy with the 6X68 right now but this one will get attention too as I go along.
Kiz worked her magic after Andy had the BHW crew cut the tuBe to 20" for me. It is a heavy configuration and looks uber-cool in my opinion. I like the profile.
Once Kiz was done she shipped it off to Ritch Johnson, one of the Pro Staff here, who runs RPG up in St.George, Utah and is a Forum advertiser . I had sent Ritch a new Aero Precision upper and a Young FF tube along with a Jp gas block. Once everything met in the Land of Utah he worked his magic.
This is what Ritch sent me. They say to never judge a book by its' cover and they are right. This box has now made five complete round trips to St. George and the postage has increased about $1.50 each way thanks to the tape. I got a DCM M1 Carbine in it originally so I would say we get the sticker for recycling on this one!!
This is the same box that my 6X68 came in so we got a double point score on this one.
After some tape cutting with the obligatory serrated edge, saw through seat belt, knife I got my smiley face on. ;D
I trotted on up stairs and grabbed a scope and started getting it together. This one is a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5X14 SF with Mil Dots. I'll use it for things like PD's, lIve game and possibly some 3 Gun stuff. I'm pretty multidisciplinary so I like having different gear for the specific task at hand. The lower is one I have been using on my varmint rifles and IPSC endeavors. ACE skeleton and a three pound Timney.
This is what I have assembled for its first iteration.
A bit of show and tell for the barrel is in order so you can see what Kiz can do.
I got in 300 pieces of 6.5 brass from Alexander Arms yesterday and once I start necking it down and getting some loads assembled I'll post those up. It will probably be ten days before I get to shoot this one as I will be wringing out the 6X68 on Sunday with a nice big game bullet. Check that thread for updates also.
Meanwhile enjoy the pictures and start thinking what Kiz can do for you.
