Right now (it will probably change 2 or 8 times) my plan is to go with an Aero Precision upper, a 18" BHS standard profile in 6x45, with a Youngs rifle lenght tube. Undecided on gas block at this time. I'm trying to stay to a budget on this. Will start ordering stuff as soon as I sell my Remington Model 7.

A budget on an AR build is like a good battle plan. It is perfect until the first shot is fired. On an AR budget it is perfect until the BBT drops off the first part!! Greg PS: Keep us posted as you have a good start in your planning for a super shooter.

I told you it might change! I emailed Stacy to change the barrel order from 6x45 to .264lbc as I am not sure about the 6x45 on these big Kansas whitetails. I'll feel better with a 6.5.

It will give you a bigger cushion to play with. Any of them will work but the smaller ones do, quite frankly, require a bit more spot on precision. Plus extra energy and velocity never hurts a bit when chasing live game. Keep us posted. Greg

In my opinion the 264 LBC is about as good as it gets, in the bigger bores. The only one that will give it a run for its money is the 6.8. Both will have ample power for white tails

What length and profile did you choose? 20" standard profile seemed to be the best compromise between portability and accuracy for my purposes. Hopefully they have something hanging around and can get it here in a reasonable time,,,,,, I'm excited. I read some stuff on Snipers Hide about shooting "ladders" that seemed kind of interesting in load development,,, not sure if I'll go to that extreme or not.
