here it is. finally put together and finished. its been a long wait but has been so worth it. gonna go finish breaking the barrel in today and get her zeroed and do some load testing. gonna do some work with sierra 75 gr hp and some hornady 87gr bthp's. If it shoots half as good as it looks and feels i am going to be tickled to death. heres the list. BHW 20" 6x45, dragons head brake, vltor MUR W/forward assist, MI gen2 ss free float tube, ranier match gas block, wilson RL gas tube, bushmaster lower, ace stock, larue spr-s mount and a vortex viper 6.5-20x44 on top. gonna be a good all around rifle and caliber for a little bit of everything

Congratulations, that looks sharp. Look at H 4895, RL 15, 8208 and CFE 223 for some propellants. One of those will make that one talk.

Looks great.
I am patiently (not really) waiting my barrel to arrive so I can build mine out.

That is a fantastic looking rifle! Kudos!
How do you like the MI SS Gen 2? I'm putting the same one on my rifle when it gets built later this year.

thanks. they look so much better when all the parts actually come together. I have builds with the gen 1 and other similar fore ends on other rifles and i must say that i am really impressed with the gen 2. instead of threading onto your barrel nut it has posts on the upper receiver side of the fore end that slide into the index/gas tube holes. This allows the gas tube and block to fit underneath the hollowed out top rail as it slides on instead of threads on. It gives you a much slimmer and imo a much more comfortable foreend. The rails also attach by screws that thread directly into the fore end which is much more convenient than the gen 1 style that had a nut that you had to fish back underneath the handguard to screw the attachment screw into. I don't think i will ever build with any other fore end now.

glshooter, i will have to look into those. kinda been wantin to play with 8208. These initial loads will be with h335 though. maybe some varget. i know in one of your threads it looked like you had good luck with 335. The only reason for this is i already have about 8 pounds of each on hand for other calibers. what powder are you using now for your honey load with the 87 gr hpbt's?

RL15 is my 500 yard powder right now in the 6X45 but TAC and H4895 have done good at times. TAC seems to be doing well in anything it touches also for me. Greg Greg

if i remember right glshooter your loading the 87's to well beyond mag length and single loading them too right? i'm pretty set on loading at least the 75 grainers to mag length and can't seem to put my hands on any vld mags as they are so hard to come by. I would consider it with the 87 grainers also if it doesn't rob too much case capacity. any thoughts?

I found that the velocities were within 20 FPS either way and that the groups on the LONG bullets were about 0.1 to 0.2 better. Therefore I went to the long round. Now if you pull up the Accurate Arms powder site they give a multitude of MAG length loadings with their powders. The PRI Mags at 2.300 are the longest aftermarket. There are none of the old VLD types out there. Now for a SECRET!!!! I have seen/have some ASC mags , old C-Product design, that went 2.300 and they are about 1/3 the costs of a PRI mag. Greg

excellent looking rifle - Congrats.
I have a 6x45 in the works and have a question about your dragons head brake. I contacted Surplus Ammo and Arms and they told me that this break would not work with the .243 that it has a .240 ID.
Did you have to drill it out?
Thanks for your help

thats where i ordered my dragons head brake from and gettin the size 1 i think is what its called that is for 17 thru 243 diameter. the inside diameter of the hole in mine is .258 so it definitely works with .243 diameter bullets. you should be good to go with that one. dont know why they said it would work for 6mm cuz on bhw homepage they used to have it listed on there as working for the .243" diameter. Hope this helps
