Well, I moved to Washington from Texas and can't take my SBRs. I was thinking that I could pin/weld some sort of light weight suppressor shroud on my 12.5" LMT MRP barrel to make it a legal length of 16" and then use my Gemtech Trek. Does anyone have any thoughts on where to find something like this? I saw Tactical Solutions makes a cool shroud .22 barrel for an AR, but I just need the shroud to weld/pin into place. Then I can use my Gemtech Trek. Otherwise, I will just pin my Gemtech directly to the barrel. Since, I only use this suppressor with this upper anyway, I might just get it pinned and not screw around with welding more weight to the LMT barrel. Thoughts? Is there a good source for Alum. tubing/fittings that I could piece together something and then have it welded together? If the law ever changes in WA, I could always cut/grind it off later...

I would imagine you could get a 5.5 inch slot style flash suppressor, and have a competent machinist ad the Gemtech mount to make it the requisite 16" length. I would then use set screws to "pin" it to the barrel then weld over the set screws. This would limit the amount of grinding needed if the situation were to change at a later date.

After thinking about it you may come out better just having Carl make you a 16" barrel with the correct thread. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Once you start talking about precision machine work that would be required to ensure proper alignment of your suppressor, I would imagine it would be expensive. Another good option would be to Call Gemtech and see if they offer an extended mount.
