Putting together a 260 Remington rifle in a LR-308 platform and was wondering if anyone would like to share some recipes they have for the .260 running 142gr SMK or 139 Scenar. From what I've read H4350 is the powder to run with the 260 for maximum performance, any thoughts on Hodgdon's powder? Not new to wildcatting, I reload the 9x25 Dillon for one of my 1911's and ever since then I've been sort of obsessed with getting every last bit of performance out of a wildcat round... currently getting slightly over 2050FPS with one of my 9x25 Dillon loads out of a 6" Longslide 1911 not bad for a handgun cartridge. I'll be resizing LC and Federal .308 brass for the most part but open for recommendations. Thanks, Fred R.

So I found some load data for the 142gr SMK using 44.5gr of H4350 powder but was wondering what people are using for 139gr Scenars and 140gr A-Max with the same powder since these bullets are not part of Hodgdon's load info on their site.
Thanks again, Fred R.

Mine's a bolt action, but right around the 43gr mark with H4350 is where I found my best accuracy (140gr Berger VLD and 140gr Hornady A-Max). I could push them a little faster with no pressure signs but accuracy started to drop off...

I'll probably start off at 42.0gr and work my way up to 43gr in 0.2gr increments on the 140 A-Max. Quick question, did you have a wide SD on loads past 43gr thus potentially effecting accuracy? Shooting Sub-MOA at 100yd, Sub 1/2-MOA at 100yd with these loads? How bad was the accuracy effected? Thanks again, Fred R.

Couldn't tell you on the SD... I don't own a chrony (I know, blasphemy!) I was ladder testing at 300yds and found good nodes around 43gr. Followed up with 42.8, 43, 43.2 etc at 100 yds and 200 yds... If I pushed it harder (around 43.5gr to 43.7 gr) my groups opened up, so I settled on 43gr. Barrel is a Shilen Select Match so it's produced some .5 MOA groups. I'm the only thing holding it back!
