Hi all hope everything is going well with you. I am having random failure to extract problems with my new build. Everything works great for a few shots then it will not extract the spent round out of the chamber and the bolt stips a new round off the mag and rams it into the already full chamber. It will cycle full mags of unfired rounds (manually) without any problems. If I take a fired round drop it in the chamber and slam the bolt closed it will extract with a lot of force (sometimes even tapping) on the charge handle. Just seeing if anyone could point me in the right direction to fix my problem. Thank you.

Ah yeah more info... Brand new 6.5 BCG, Hornady 123 amax, 18" rifle length BHW 264LBC barrel. I did notice the extractor spring is not as stiff as the ones on my 556 bolts.

I would try swapping out the extractor spring as a first step. Also it may be that the action is opening too quickly and might require a heavier buffer set up. That is one reason to run a FA BCG for that little extra weight that slows things down. My approach on all my AR's, thanks to Black Hole, in the past two years has been an adjustable gas block. I'm putting themo n everything I build from here on out. It really adds to the flexibility of the chamberings when you are hand loading for them. Greg

I installed a brand new extractor spring earlier this afternoon and will hopefully have time to sneak out and try it tomorrow. I have a feeling it is the culprit. Thanks for the replies Greg.

Problem solved runs like a top. Weak extractor spring. Very impressed with this barrel thanks BHW.
