What are you guys using for a COL on the 58gr pills? Are you going mag length or shorter? I was thinking about 2.2" as a starting point.

I reloaded some rounds with Varget and my velocity wasn't as good as I had hoped. COL is 2.27". I did 28gr up to 29gr in 0.2gr increments and started at 2750fps and went up to 2930fps with the 29gr load. I loaded up 10 rounds of the 28gr load to get it on paper and zeroed. The 28gr load with shots 12-14 out of the barrel covered a dime, but they opened up a bit as the charge went up. The first shot out of a clean bore was consistently left and moved further left as the velocity went up. Didn't see any signs of pressure.
I went back and loaded up some Benchmark (since I have quite a bit of it) with 28gr to 30.5gr in 0.3 increments except for the last load (0.2). Hopefully I'll get to go shoot them this week sometime and see what kind of numbers I can get out of it. So far it shoots great, I've just got to find a load that will work and have the velocity close to where I want it.
Only thing I've noticed is that when I release the bolt catch it won't actually chamber a round. It seems to get a little hung up on the feed ramps, but if I pull the bolt back and let it slam forward it chambers just fine.

Its a little to fast burning. From the work I have done with the 58gr Vmax, you will loose about 100 FPS. IMR 8208 is the powder of choice for the 6X68. It has given top velocities with all of the light weight bullets. The only other powder that will out do it is CFE223. The 58gr Vmax load is 31 to 31.5 grains of 8208. With a 22" barrel I am getting 3550 FPS

I'll see if I can't find either of those two powders, but the shelves have been bare for a while now. I'll shoot the benchmark for now and hopefully stumble on some of the IMR 8208 or the CFE223 shortly.

Forgot my notes from Ritch today and came home with Varget Good luck with the Varget. I doubt you can get enough in the case to make it shoot. But It may give some results with the heavy bullets.
