Ritch had a chance to shoot his BHW Savage 260 Remington barrel last weekend. This is the first non-6.8 Savage barrel he has got to shoot. It appears that the BHW rendition on the Savage is going to carry the mail for a long long time way out yonder. Ritch worked with two bullets for the intial run. The Berger 130 and the 140 were selected over loaded over some RL-19 he had up on the shelf. Loading levels were selected as safe in the books and had worked out well in some of the other 260's Ritch had used. The first thing is to establish a baseline anmd what a baseline Ritch got. He sent along one pair of groups shot with the Berger 130's back to back at 0.5 grain difference. Shooting conditions were warm with some mirage. The 140's shot under an MOA but Ritch didn't send those along. On a better note he is sending me MY 260 barrel this week!! Oh boy. Greg

Greg,
those are some fine groups.
do you know how the 6.5 barrels shoot the barnes all copper projectiles?
thinking of ordering a blank i can have made into a 6.5-06 but i want to shoot the 127 LRX and saw a few discussions that it may not stabilize them.
I love my other bhw barrels and would love this gun to have another any in-site would be appreciated.

I have not a clue on the copper bullets. Ritch has had absysmaal luck with them every time he tried them and he has less than a warm interest in them. I don't lok to see any test and pressure data run on them. I know some guys have had good luck with them in BHW tubes and others, well, not so much. Not sure about a blank availability as they are turning every piiece of steel they can get since they moved. For some reason the demand has sky rocketed in BHW barrels. Must be the 'net effect. Greg

I have been talking with Andy and he says 10-12 weeks on a contoured blank and that they are available, for what it's worth.
I don't have to run the lrx i can run the 140 accubond also i just want to run the lrx. it is for my african safari and I want a tough bullet. the shilen barrel i had made just isn't as accurate as i want or expect. i have had much better luck with the BHW barrels. My 20 practical is a laser
thanks for the feedback, I think i will just order one and hope it shoots them otherwise i will run 140 bergers or 140 accubonds.
