We all like to hit what we are shooting at and at times it isn't way over in the next county. I thought I'd share a few pics of one of my more radical custom revolvers that I have used in IPSC matches over the years. This one has three National titles under it's cylinder latch. 25-2 45 ACP with a Douglas barrel and an Aristocrat rib with an integral comp built for me by Royce Weddle in 1984. It is set up DAO and with full moon clips it can really sing. Maybe you all can share some of your "alternate" shooting irons. Greg

Nice looking wheel gun. I don't have any pics of my wheel guns. But one is a S&W 629 classic from the performance center with a b-square full rib mount and topped off with a bushnel 2-6x scope. This is my deer pistol. It really likes the 240gr xtp's. 100yds 5 shot group off sticks gives me 2 1/2" groups. My latest is a S&W model 327 trr8 357 with an ATN digital red dot sight. So far it is a fun gun to shoot. It will ring the 10"square plate off shooting sticks 7 out of 8 times. They are fun to shoot. I would like to carry the 327 for backup when yote hunting but can't find a holster for it.

Nice pistols. I've got them in various flavors and find they add a lot of fun to the equation. . My first Smith was a Model 29 6 3/8" I got in 1975. I've rebuilt it twice and it shoots like a dream. The other ones I have are used in various matches. I have a great time shooting "old school" against the kids.

I know what you mean. Had a conservation officer at the hunter safety class that my youngest son took a little over a month ago tell the class that using a pistol to hunt deer with was the worst thing to pick because of the accuracy and they will not kill a deer very well and that the deer will not leave a very good blood trail when it runs off. I told him that he was wrong. I told him that if you practice with your gun and get a good bullet and good shot placement they are just as good as any other weapon. He then responds to me and says but they are only good out to 50yds. I laughed at him and said that he was wrong again. I informed him that I was confortable with my set up out to 150yds and have taken deer at 89, 109, and 120yds all with 1 shot kills. He then said yeah but you probably had to track them a long way. I laughed at him again and said that my tracking job was a long way. On the 89yd shot I had to track it 4 steps from where it was shot. The 109 was 20yds and the 120yd shot was 30yds. They all dropped in the field that I was hunting. Practice with the gun and know your and the guns limitations.

Congrats on the deer. That is a super record. Some fellows that should know about a handgun in the field don't have a clue.
If you can hit well with it why not? I tucked a 44 Mag in a shoulder holster the only time I got to go looking for elk and I am certain that inside 50 yards that no elk in Arizona would be walking far once I started in on him.

I feel totally confident that I could make a shot on a deer at 150yds and not even flinch. I was just out yesterday with the 357 and was having fun ringing the gong at 200yds with it. They are 10"x10" gongs. I was able to ring it 5 out of 8 times then I had to stop because the cows and calves were gathering around them trying to figure out what the noise was. I wish I would have had the camera with me. It was funny as all get out. There must have been 30 different cows and calves all circled around the old tree that these were hung in. Too bad I had to stop. I only was able to shoot 3 cylinder full through the gun.

Nice looking single shots. I'd be ashamed to post my beat up old guns. Functional but far from elegant like those two.

Those are some of my old guns. They are built on Mauser 93 actions. ;D I have built several of them and I like the way they shoot. Most are MOA or very close. The lower one is the first one I built (15 years ago) It will shoot MOA every time if I do my part. The 357 max with a 180 gr psp (designed for 35 rem) comes out of the muzzle at 1800 fps. It has taken lots of deer. Dave
