Assembled my new 6x68 today. 8 lbs 7 oz empty with scope. Looking forward to shooting it ASAP. RPG/BHW 20" 1:10 LT/R 2lbs 10oz Hogue Free Float Tube Daniel Defense 6.8 spc bolt PSA NiBo carrier BTE trigger PSA upper Anderson lower Larue pistol grip Burris 2x7 scope Looks like this, not meant to be pretty, and it isn't ! Hope to shoot it early next week.
Ended up shortening COL on both 58gr and 75gr Vmax. The 75gr was in the lands at 2.266 and the 58gr was in the lands at 2.247, both a little bit lean IMO.
Had a learning curve on chamber size vs Wilson headspace gauge. An empty FL sized brass needed the shoulder pushed down 0.005" below the HS gauge minimum, for it to chamber and eject freely by hand. Interesting to see if any of this changes after a couple 100 rounds..

Looks pretty decent. Custom chambers require custom sizing. That is the nature of t the beats. Even an in-spec bolt face depth will change things by as much as 0.005 as will the lug height/barrel extension in the back. Tolerances stack and we just go with the flow on them.

1st range trip of my 6x68 went well today, was checking gas system and new (to me) 6x68 handloads in HDY brass:
HDY VMAX 75gr, 8208 XBR, 28.5 gr, 2.245 COL, BR-4 => 3058 fps ave, 20 sd, 1557 ft/lbs @muzzle HDY VMAX 58 gr, 8208 XBR, 31.0'C gr, 2.240 COL, BR-4 => 3415 fps ave, 14.7 sd
100% function on all 10 shots. Most of the fired brass had small dents on the lip edge, these came out on 1st pass of FL sizer die. About a third of the heads had ejector pin scrapes, will need to polish that pin. Primers looked great, like they want more powder !! Will step up the VMAX 75 gr load next and then look for accuracy.

The dent on the lip can be cured with something relatively soft stuck to your brass deflector. We had a discussion about it a while back in a different thread and the two things that I thought were the simplest were a self-stick felt furniture pad and the loop part of self-stick velcro, either one cut to fit the brass deflector. Should cure that dent of you care about it.
Sounds like it is otherwise up and off to a good start!
Cheers! Tim

Get a 5/8" square of self stick black velcro. Wally has ut. Stick it on the deflector. It will handle 95% of the dents. Everyone of my uppers get a patch as soon as Ritch sends them.

Velcro worked fine.. following also posted on PM..
So got a break today and enough time for a range trip to try some 87 gr VMAX in my new BHW 6x6.8. Used 8208 XBR, 2.265" COL, CCI BR-4, HDY brass: 28.2 => 2940 fps ave, 7.8 sd 28.4 => 2954 fps ave, 14.0 sd 28.6 => 2962 fps ave, 28.6 sd 28.8 => 2974 fps ave, 6.7 sd, next best group (0.63") 29.0 => 2981 fps ave, 6.7 sd, best group (0.42"), and 1717 ft-lbs @ muzzle primers still looked good, minor flattening, no craters, and still 100% AR function.

Try that load. I had good luck with exact same components in mine. That velocity is what I was getting at 28.7 grains 8208 before I shot my chrony... RIP....
I'm sure I was shooting in colder temps in September in Wisconsin. Mine was 72 degrees with 37% humidity.
