With all the newer"exotic" calibers coming out for the AR I was wondering what brands of dies you all are using and how much trouble you are having obtaining them.
Also who has been your biggest brass supplier. Are you buying factory ammo and then reloading it? Are you finding bulk virgin brass available and is any particular outfit been better than others in that area?
On bullet selection do you find yourselves tending toward the heavy for caliber weights or are you concentrating on the middle of the pack and lighter ones? I shoot more PD's than anything else and matches so the heavy ones aren't needed as much in my ammo supply.

I'm running redding S-dies for the 20pr. I also run redding dies for the 6x45. Those are the only 2 wildcats that I have right now. The bullets that I run in both are the middle of the road. In the 20pr I either run the 26gr barnes or the 35gr bergers. In the 6x45 I run 60-75gr bullets for the 6x45. My brass is what I have had for years and from range brass that I picked up.

For the newer calibers for the AR I have been using Hornady and Redding dies. I did have some problem getting dies because of the panic buying after last presidential election but dies and other reloading equipment seem to be available now. I buy virgin brass for loading. I buy brass from Graf and Sons and Midway. There were major shortages in all reloading components as noted above but supply is pretty good now although there still seems to be shortages once in a while. I find that I am using heavier bullet weights. I am always looking for the highest ballistic coefficient which is usually the longer heavier bullets in each caliber.

Just installed my 6x45 barrel, still braking it in. what about using moly bullets in the poly rifling? I don't see any reason why you couldn't use moly bullets on the poly rifling. The pressures will be lower with the poly and the moly..made a rhyme there.. so you may have to bump the powder up a tad to get the same velocities but since the pressures will be lower across the board you may pick up some extra FPS. Pressure is what drives bullets and when you lower it you loose that velocity. The nice thing is about both approaches is that you will see less fouling from the jacket and cleaning will be decreased slightly. Greg

Are the Redding dies really worth the extra cost? They are more than double the RCBS.

Are the Redding dies really worth the extra cost? They are more than double the RCBS. I like the ability to use the bushings to adjust neck tension on my cases. They also do not work the brass as much and case life should be extended. With the right Redding die you can form cases and make cartridges that are usable and will shoot right along with those that are custom made., My 20 LBC, out of 264 LBC brass, can be necked down and loaded using only a 22 PPC die. The Redding Type S FL die in 223 can be used to load, 223/556, 6X45, 20 Practical and 17X223. What is not to like? I just picked up a 6.8 SPC Redding die and you will get to see it's results shortly in a non-6.8!! Greg
