I am trying to figure out which type of scope I should purchase. I will be hunting coyotes at night. Several of my buddies have gen 2 &3 night vision and they like them. All the research I have been doing points towards thermal. Would someone with experience suggest which type and brand of scope I should consider?

I've shot a tad of the NV gear but never used a thermal. I know what I shot was good enough to identify facial characteristics at 100 yards and I don't think thermal would do that but I am far from even a minor authority. Greg

I've looked through or hunted with ATN Gen 1 & Gen 2 ATN X-sight Pulsar N550 & N750 Nightvision
Thermals I've had the pleasure of using are
Pulsar HD19A monocular ATN 320-2x ATN 336-3x ATN 640-2.5x Pulsar Apex XD38 & XD50
It depends on what you are trying to do as to which is better. For spot and stalk or calling at night you need thermal.
If you are hunting over bait or at a feeder then nightvision may be all you will ever need.
Using a thermal monocular with a nightvision scope is very effective also.
