What would it cost for a bolt, and barrel/extension to be made.
I would like to wildcat an AR, not a cartridge. The case rim is .480 and the only bolt I could see using would have to be an AR-10, which cant be swapped in to a 15 bcg. And from looking around, a 30 rem ar bolt is to big on the face. Unless someone has actual measurements because all I could find were the casing specs.

Price is anyone's guess for your machine work. Your first barrel will run you about $800.00 minimum when it is all said and done if past experience is any indication assuming you use a quality blank. You don't think the bolt is too thin to be opened up that far? The cartridge is around 40,000 psi.
The extension would have to be one of those for a large bullet. I haven't seen any for sale.
I would like the barrel to be BHW. Only thing I don't have any knowledge or experience to determine the gas port location or size.

A 308 is 473 and that is the biggest anyone normally runs. The RAR bolt IS NOT a standard AR15 size. Bolts and extensions are bigger. Bolt thrust on the 308 must be held to around 35,000 and that is why the SOCOM and Bushy are so anemic using the 473.. A 480 would be even worse and I suspect that 40,000 would too extreme. I am guessing you mean an AR10 style BE for a " big bullet" I'm sure those are available. If you mean like a SOCOM or Bushmaster you could open the ramps up. Black Hole does not do custom wildcat barrels because of liability issues. Greg

Welp, that ends that. I wanted to do a 460 Rowland.
No one makes a barrel chambered for it, and I didn't want a blow-back design.

Just do a 450 Bushmaster and load it down to those levels. It meets all your requirements. Same bullets, gas operated, available components and Black Hole makes the barrels.

I could do that. But why down-load a caliber, that wouldn't be as fun. My concept was to be a contender for typical size smg's. And those big calibers have far less capacity, when using a standard AR mag.

I just need a barrel to complete my 1911 build. It would use a 473 bolt face the same as a 45ACP. I believe there are some lowers that run 45 pistol mags that would be usable. More than likely the powder charge is going to be too low because of the expansion ratio of the barrel to run a DI set up although there might be enough with a pistol gas. Maybe some modeling would be in order with something like Quick Load for port placement. I do know of a prototype 500 S&W that was done but that is a different critter. It is always floating around in my mind. The Raptor being done by Arne Brennan would be a good one but both require something on the AR10 platform because of the bolt thrust. I'm with Ritch. Bushmaster loaded down would be the way to go. Greg

The FBI guys like them and some of my professional associates like them. I have an eclectic batch of associates...lol Greg

I kind of wanted short barrel efficiency, like 8-10 inches, kind of like a 300 blackout can do(any word on the C5?). That Raptor is is insane....Oh well, pipe dreams.

It's available on some barrels like the Black Out. It won't help on your project. You will need to be as short as possible to take advantage of the limited amount of gas.

I meant as in for the Blackout. I saw you had said a while ago it was to be ready soon, but hadn't read anything lately. I didn't plan on it for the idea I had. But I am interested in a BHW Blackout barrel with the C5 system.

I would send that question direct to Sales.
