Okay so BHW does not chamber for the 6XC. They sell blanks but not contoured. I have a Smith that can ream the chamber, setup for a savage small shank, and thread the muzzle but does not contour barrels. I think BHW would sell a ton of contoured blanks if the would do this. This would also reduce their workload and free up more time to produce the AR barrels.

how do you order the contour? Do you just select the savage taper or step and dont enter a caliber?

I did and they seemed hesitant to give a solid answer. They wanted an email. The thing is if I can get a contour to my specifications with a 1.25 breech my Smith can setup the barrel for a shoulder install without a barrel nut. This would make for a very solid barreled action

Will do pictures for sure. I like how BHW will contour to the specs we want. Not many barrel makers do that for a savage. I only wish they could throw more chambers in and allow for custom reamers to be sent in. Also a 7 twist 6mm would be nice. Berger says that at least a 7.5 is needed to make the 105hybrid stable in flight at 3100 fps. 8 twist is just under a 1.5 SF

Berger says that at least a 7.5 is needed to make the 105hybrid stable in flight at 3100 fps. 8 twist is just under a 1.5 SF Let' just say the math is nice. Let's also say that math doesn't always reflect the real world. I know a guy that has shot 105's Berger BT Match that state at least a 1:8 out of a 1:9 and they did very well at only 2770. I don't know how much longer the Hybrid is but I suspect not much. Just my thoughts since I was the guy behind the trigger on those shot on a whim in a 6X6.8. I don't understand the why but when testing we have found the BHW tubes frequently will shoot a bullet weight at one less twist than is called for. Not always but enough for me not to think it is not a fluke. Brian Litz shot some of our barrels in his testing and his response was quite frankly he didn't understand it but there was definite shift in usable lengths and the BC's changes slightly. Greg

Did you determine if you can get a contoured blank turned with a cylinder of 1.250"? I want to order a .223 barrel so I can barrel up a trainer action and want to approximate a Light Palma barrel since my 6.5 Creed is a Med Palma. Last I heard they were no longer selling blanks. Greg
