Here is the question: Will the difference in accuracy from an 18" LTM profile barrel be negligible or highly noticeable compare to the accuracy of an 18" standard profile barrel?
In understand heavier and/or bull barrels are inheritably more accurate than lighter barrels, but for a field gun which I will hump around the whole day a few ounces make a lot of difference. I am already compromising with the 18” rather than 20” or longer barrel but still want more velocity than those out of a 16” barrel.

There is no difference in accuracy between the two profiles. The bull will hold its point of impact longer because of mass. It takes longer to heat it up, so it will hold its POI longer.
The majority of the Pro Staff are all shooting 20 inch standard profile barrels on there guns if that means anything.

I agree the barrel won't be any more accurate normally. A heavier barrel being stiffer seems to result in better accuracy day in day out and it certainly holds the grouping better as it heats up but standard profile guns can shoot lights out also. All but one of my basic AR's have the heavy non-pencil barrels.
The very heavy varmint weight ones are great for precision shooting on PD's but don't make for ideal hiking guns. Also you can't put a brake on the extremely heavy ones,

Thank you, gents. That was precisely what I needed to know. My heart is set on the 18" LTM profile....After all, I think that is the same profile we had on the 20" M16A2 back when I used to be in the Marine Corps. Accurate enough to hit what I aimed for and get the job done.
Once again, thank you very much.

Thanks for getting the JOB done!
An old Viet Nam Vet. My weapon was a M-14 (heavy) but it got the job done. Two tours, but never had the Ar to play with. Grease gun, Thomson and the m-14 They all had there place, the grease gun was a joke, only used it once, then got rid of it for the Thomson. All in all, the M-14 was my choice.
Now I love (Love) my Ar's
Looking forward to my 264LBC. Thank you all of you at BHW for putting it together for me I know it will get the job done.
Have AA brass and Horandy brass I have loaded. Also have about 500 rd of Winchester 7.62X39 I have Sized and ready to fire form. Going to be a fun days at the range.
