My first build. 243 LBC won't cycle. Adjustable GB is full open. Carbine buffer, Rifle length system. It acts like it's a single shot. At first i thought it was a bad gas block, so i tried 2 other others. With the bolt in battery i blew air in the end of the barrel. I have good air flow through i system. I'm at a lose here. At first i thought maybe to light a charge with my reloads, but in loaded 28.0 of AR Comp. This all started with me wanting to adjust my gas block.

First thing to do is put it on a different lower that you know runs. Does it eject/extract at all? Greg

It does the same thing with my 264 LBC lower. I have to manually extract the fired round from the chamber. Both BCG are Young Manu.
Have you swapped in the 264 LBC BCG for a test? IN fact swap the 243 LBC and and 264 and see how they run. Don't worry about the wives tale about swapping BCGs/bolts.

I'm going over to the machine shop today and take some measurements of the three gas block ports and the port on the BHW barrel. If the dimple is off ctr. maybe the gas port is, but it doesn't appear to be off ctr. What about the gas tube and the BCG. Could there be a leak there?

Greg. The way i swapped things around between the 243/264 it's something with the 243 upper.

If both BCG's run in the 264 then it looks the gas is at fault. Make sure the tube is the right length entering the key. You can just lay a straight edge on the barrel on the dimple to make sure it is directly below the gas port. It does sound like you may have an upper issue. I've seen them tweaked during the build that did not allow free movement. Did you try to shoot the 243 with the 264 lbc bCG on your known good 264 lower? Did you shoot the 264 complete upper as built on the 243 lower assembly? All these combinations are like shopping at Burger King.

I cross swapped/ interchanged everything. I take it the 243 would not run period then but the 264 was still a sewing machine? Greg

Yes. Just took some measurements. Barrel dia. at the GB .749. Ctr of gas port hole to barrel shoulder is .297. The GB i have on is .751 ID ctr of port hole to edge is .318. The other two GB's are .753 ID and .307 from ctr of port hole to edge and .750/.251 The latter GB is non adj. I did notice when i removed the GB& Gas tube there was carbon around 90% of the barrel and that was probably only after 10/15 rds. I tried all 3 of these GB's with the same results. The non adj. GB i can see why it didn't work

If you tried three GB's I'm starting to look at something out of dimension on the upper itself. I have all my uppers built but If I had the tools and this issue at this point I'd pull the 243 barrel and put it on another upper or the 264 upper and see what happens.

The upper has a slight bend in it. If you look real close .and feel along both edges what would be above the mag well on the lower you can see/ feel those edges are not straight they are ballged out. Tomorrow i'm going back to the machine shop and put a straight edge on the pic. rail

When i went to install the Ej. port cover the pin was binding , but i didn't think anymore about. I'd sure like to find a stripped FNH upper just to keep it FN. I called FN yesterday, and for the amount of good i got back i may as well went outside and talked to a dead tree. I bought the upper and lower from there Pro Shop which has since been closed. That's the hang up. I see Midwest Ind. has a 20% off sale today only. I may go that route, only problem is the FN upper/ lower are anodized FDE and i built around that.

I would think that f it was warped prior to assembly they would make it good but the FDE probably is a tough one as I doubt that is factory applied but I am not sure.
Let me know once you get it up and running.
