I too own a least one of each a 3 or 4 of the others mentioned, and have killed plenty deer and hogs with them, but for a all around good deer and hog gun I would go 264 and never look back. It just has alot better bullet choices then the. 277 cailber stuff, I like my 6.8 but it has turned into my night time close range hog gun,you can look back I have a few post on here of meat hunts with the 264 and all were one shot kills from 12 to almost 300 yds and I have been more then pleased with it.

If I want a 6.5 bullet to shoot I'll stick with the 260 rem. So it is a matter of variety that is afoot then! Then I would say play salmon and be the first kid on the block with a 243 LBC. I too understand the desire to have something different than what is in the rack. I built the first 6X45 IPSC rifle in Oklahoma because I wanted "different" and wanted to have more KD energy down range for heavy steel targets. Greg No tangles there. And I'm not trying to be a horses rear or closest kin to one. However I have built 264/grendels for customers only because they wanted them. I still think my 6.8 is what I need. No need in overlapping them in owning a 264. However if I wanted a calling slash PD gun I would have to agree and say the 243lbc is a great option in the Ar platform over the 6x45 or 556. That being said. I will still work on the 6.5 and greater bullets out of an 10 platform (even creedmore) and keep my 6.8 as the largest caliber for my needs in the 15. Like I mentioned. Just one mans opinion. Texans have their own reasons. Afterall we are a country of our own

Well I made my decision partially based on what BHW had in stock. Called and spoke with Gail and she had a 6.8 18" midlength std profile in stock. Its enroute............

The 264 will deliver more energy at all distances. If it was me, I'd go with whatever caliber I already have reloading components for.

Staying with the AR15 platform, both will fit the bill on the pigs, but, I've had both. I just ordered a .264LBC with a LH BHW upper to replace my LH Stag 6.8SPC. I just never liked the accuracy of the 6.8 round - and this is something coming from a guy that loves the .270 Win. The .264LBC will better serve your needs especially since the wife is beginning to question your mental state. If you go with the 6.8 and you want to change your target to something bigger or longer range, I'll fear you'll be at it again in the near future - only helping to confirm the correctness of your wife and I know you don't want to do that on purpose! Just trying to help since I've been in your shoes more time than I can remember!!!
