I bought this barrel used, it is 18" SS back half fluted and about 2-3" down from the gas port. it says 6.5 Grendel in a Fancy laser engraved script. I was told it has a round count of 30 and it has Poly____ rifling. Sorry about my spelling. I am not sure the pic will show up?? I would be much great full for any help! Greg Attachments:

I saw something like this in Midway under their stoner branding. It could be any of the OEM makers they use. They do the same fluting with their wylde and 6x45 barrels. Not sure though, it is really hard to say.

Do Stoner Barrel have Polygonal Rifling? My barrel has Polygonal Rifling, I forgot to mention a couple things, the guy I bought it from said it was a AA Barrel, and when I posted over on the Grendel sight i was told to come here and ask around because Black Hole Weaponry was know for Polygonal Rifling and that maybe my barrel was a B.H.W. barrel? It realy doesn't matter who made the barrel, I just thought it would be nice to know. Thanks Greg

IIRC PacNor does some poly rifling but I have no idea if they have gone off in to this venue in that chambering.

The stoner I have seen do not have poly at least advertised but they seem to have several makers. The cheaper than dirt brand that is called black Rain are poly for sure. For all I know they could be also BHW ones but also hard to say. They look like these a lot. The other possibility is someone cut a polygonal LW. It is hard to say w/o any markings or other references. Anyone with a good lathe and the experience could cut it.

I thank all of you guys, and like I said I guess it doesn't matter! I will have to check out Black Rain Ord., they are only 60 miles from me and I bought a Heavy fluted 24" 223 barrel for my brothers Target AR that i put togehter here 3 months ago. Are the 6.5 Grendel's as picky as the WSSM to load for? I got allmost all my parts but the weather is turning cold and I don't get out much. Thanks again. Greg

In context here. Pac-Nor makes the blanks, Noveske machines in house to their specs. Sr25 (knights armament) are in house now. There are others whom do "polygonal". But it's not a PacNor. I'm still trying to remember though. Hate that about getting old. (er) PAC nor only does Ar barrels for noveske. Except for the SR 25 I shot several years ago in 308.......... Greg

Greg So just to be contrary when someone takes a blank made by X company and works it over does a Shilen blank become a Noveske barrel and not a Shilen? Or does it become a Shilen blanked Noveske or a Pac-Nor blanked Noveske? My wifes AR 15 barrel was done up with a Shilen SS BR blank but my 'smith would not say it is a "Frankenberg barrel" he would tell everyone that he did the barreling but it was Shilen blank. Hence my statement that Pac-Nor makes poly barrels. Greg PS: Semantics are so much fun when it is dreary out and down to 58 degrees!!

Not trying to play semantics. I was passing on the info from PAC nor themselves. I'll forward you the email as well. And yes. I agree about the weather. Thanks for playing. In context here. That is one nice thing about the board here. We have such a broad experience base that often we all learn!!

Rock creek barrels (Mike Rock) makes a 5r poly barrel as well. Not sure if he might sell some to midway but it's possible.
I do know from experience midway won't say who the manuf is. Can you (OP) see how many grooves there are?

I guess I can call it what ever I want! It was sold to me as a A.A. barrel, but I don't think it is? It don't matter! Except that it now might not be as big of bargin as I thought!! Since I have never been around a Grendel I was in Big Hopes that you guys would give me a heads up on what I might get out of the 6.5 Grendel? How far are you guys shooting the 6.5 Grendel and still getting good groups, 200yds,400yds,600yds,800yds. Greg
