I thought the 264 was supposed to have the better BC of the two so why would you go with 243 over 264lbc?
thx Pat

Bullet shapes determine the BC not the caliber. Usable weights are sometimes less than the top weights with the super BC's out there. ESPECIALLY in a mag fed AR. Also remember bullet choices come in to play. There is a boat load of 6 MM stuff and the 6.5 not so much to choose from. Greg Fixed it. What is .3 MM among friends anyway?

I think Greg meant the 6.5mm.... but anyway that is true. the 6mm department is one of the biggest there is, it essentially starts whit the similar 223 options and then continues very strong where the 223 ends for hunting and you can find very good bullets for almost anything up to large game or long range target. Some people do not recommend 6mm for the largest game but I see with good speed and good bullet placement (typical of the AR) there are as lethal as anything else. I my opinion the 6mm takes better advantage of the lbc/grendel case than the 6.5 itself. Even an intermediate 20" will give decent speed and performance. It is hard to find good lighter bullets in the 6.5 that can add any significant advantage. Even the 7mm-LBC is another amazing option for 18" uppers but unfortunately not a popular wildcat yet. Whatever you choose they are good options, and the poly barrels do show improvements over other makes, so it really depends on purpose, if you like to reload or not and other likes and dislikes.
Cheers.

We are using Hornady 6 PPC dies. Just hold the size die off the shell holder approximately .070. Us the seating die as normal.
