I had thought that the .264 LBC was possibly going to fill the bill for one of my dream calibers but the discussion above about a .243 LBC is very intriguing. I've been interested in the 6x45 but the case/magazine combination in an AR15 platform limited bullet choices as the 90+ grain bullets really sacrificed performance. I loved my dad's .244, the original 6mm Remington with a twist that really didn't work well with the heavier bullets, and didn't want to go down the same bullet-weight limited cartridge. But it sounds like the 243 LBC might solve that dilemma. I had two lowers set aside for projects but now it looks like I have at least one more. The 243 LBC has great to work with. So far we have not found any thing it won't shoot well. Brass is as easy to make as 6X45. Its one time through the size die and its ready to load.

Dream calibers? OK, since you asked.....
.30 HRT = 6.8 SPC necked up to .30 caliber with a tight poly rifle twist. It is a creation of Marty at Teppo Justu and is supposed to give excellent super AND sub sonic performance.
7.62 x 40 = .223 Rem necked up to .30 caliber. Sub sonic capable with a tight twist, but really shines super sonic with 125 gr. bullets. Wilson Combat just released it commercially.
Of course, I'm looking forward to 4/8 and the .204 Ruger that will come with it, too!

I picked up box full misc. dies from a friend the other day and there was a die box labeled 22 cooper. It didn't have the dies in it but there was a loaded round in it and I thought that would be a perfect goffer (thats what we call ground squirrels in MT) round. Although I'm not certain it would be able to cycle an AR. Just a dream.

I am interested in learning about that cartridge I love to learn new things Thank you 22 Cooper is basically 22 Mag but centerfire. The folks at Cooper firearms of Montana engineered this round but I think that they no longer offer the chambering in thier rifles. I'm sure if you offered enough money they would knock the dust off the reamers and turn out some brass.

I'm back to two 6.8's One a stag and the other is a coonass.(I'm serious) I just put the 300 AAC blackout barrel on one AR15 but I'm thinking that the 6x45 will be the caliber to really play with. as much accruacy as cheap to load. I'm trying to get a price on a 6x45 barrel now. From BHW's but for a real dream caliber, try a 6.5x55 in a Ljungamn!! it's very accruate but for AR's I think 6x45 is going to be the one. Pat

I've got a lot of different AR;s but I am hankering to try the 6.5 Creedmoor or maybe the 300 OSSM. I've got a 25 WSSM so I have a real interest to see how far that cartridge family can go. The Creedmoor is food for thought for an F-class rifle.

I don't know if I would ever get one but maybe some day I would like to have a 17/223 for shooting pd's. My next one will be a 6mmwoa or something close to that.

My 20 Tactical is like hammering them with a laser and the 17 would be right up there with it. Not sure of wind drift but when those chronograph numbers hit 4100+ it does make you smile just a tad. Yeah I think the wind drift would be a problem sometimes but like you said 4100ft/sec and watching them explode would just make you grin from ear to ear.

I am not sure if he ever got to it, but at one time Carl was toying with the Idea of 500 S&W.... I would love to see that happen....
