No*
* There are several of us around here that are afflicted with WBRD, and have plans for 30 caliber AR-15 cartridge that will exceeded the 30 rem AR when we get or hands on the new Magnum upper.

WRBD? Are U talking about the 30 AR TURBO? Will that fit on std AR lower? What I am trying 2 accomplish is 2 find a round that my son will shoot (that I'm comfortable kills deer, meets NE requirement). I'd love a 7mm variant but....... 7 LBC?

WBRD aka Wildcat Black Rifle Disease = The obsessive compulsive need to build a bigger, better cartridge for the black rifle.
Your options for a Nebraska deer rifle is wide open, starting with a .223 using a 55gr. I prefer the 77gr SMK in my 223. I have not killed a deer with the 77SMK, but have killed dozens of hogs out to about 250 yards with it, and it is devastating.

Is a 30 AR Remington AR available in a BHW Polygonial Barrel? There are no plans the produce barrels in Remington 30 AR at this time. As of right now the barrel extension and bolt are proprietary. Loaded ammo is hard to find and brass to reload is almost impossible to come up with.

Wolverine and Ralph, Thanks for the feedback! Kind of figured that the boys in Green had that one locked away for whatever reason. Looked like it is at least a interesting cartridge. Will a .223 kill a deer--yes but what I'm trying 2 do is lure @ least one kid out of the basement and into the field. Between the cataloged calibers what would you choose---first time deer hunter, less than 200 yd shot, deer weight max size 250--AR 15 platform--don't like either 300 platform (blackout or whisper)......Yes I reload so what would you try?

There are several choices. The new 6X68 that is coming out would work. We are going to have loaded ammo for it as well. The 6.8 SPC would work great out to 300 yards. If you are after something that will shoot a little farther look into the 6.5 LBC.

I think I'd tie into a 6 MM version for my deer killing. The 6X45 or the 6.8 SPC would be an ideal round to do one in with. Of course the 6.5 LBC or a 243 LBC if you want to really have a hot rocks approach. They aren't 30 caliber but they will haul the mail for deer in a most businesslike fashion. Greg

Does a cartridge need to have 900 ft/lbs of kinetic energy to do the job on a deer? In comparing a 6 to a 6.5 what is going to be the best bang for the performance? How much difference is there in speed and kinetic energy between them?
