I ordered my 6.8 barrel 7 weeks ago. Since that time it looks like tactical ammunition has got some 6.8 barrel in stock, I am feeling a little screwed since I could have got my barrel from them quicker and cheaper, $30.00 cheaper.

Being a stocking dealer if they order a number of them they do get a discount, and some are allowed to pass that savings along due to the contract with BHW. What sort of options did you add to your barrel? Black? Fluting?

I'm waiting in line for a replacement barrel. Standard stuff carbine gas. Still do not have it. I understand the manufacturing process. Am I excited about them not having any available in stock? Sure but that just means demand is still higher than supply and process. Be thankful the price has not increased as the demand has increased. When did you order by the way?

Perhaps TA ordered their barrels three months ago and just took delivery for a big batch. My onesey twosey barrels from BHW are averaging about 10 weeks or so from the time the initial specs are set up for the tube. Not an unusual time when I read about Loather Walther barrels taking as much as 8 months and Shilens in the neighborhood of 3 or 4. I had an upper built for ma a few years ago and waited 5 1/2 months. The same 'smith right now is about 11 months out on his work!! My suggestion is to give them a call on Monday and see what kind of ETA you are looking at. It has aways been my experience that the direct approach pays off faster than a posting on a board or even an e-mail in most cases. Keep us posted as this works its way through. The wait will be worth it on your barrel if mine are any indication. Greg

Let me clarify. I was informed that my barrel would take about 8 weeks. I am eagerly awaiting my barrel and hope it is everything I expect it to be! If I was told it would take 6 months when I order it, then it take 6 months so be it. I am not saying I was screwed by BHW. I am only pointing out that if I had known the option to buy the barrel from another source with a quicker turn (have the time) around at a cheaper cost, I would have taken it.

Brandon pretty much hit the nail on the head: We require our dealers to offer map pricing on our product, however they are allowed to offer occasional sales and promotions as part of their contract with us. I tend to follow many BHW dealers on their Facebook page and know through there that Tactical Ammunition is holding an online special currently BHW product. It's not a permanent thing by any means. I personally don't know the schedule of every one of our dealers when it comes to their personal promotions. We have nothing to do with it in that as we are simply a supplier not their shop owner. The best I can offer for advice as a consumer is to shop around. Sometimes we find a great deal and other times we just miss it. If we were to honor all our dealer's prices every-time they had a sale we'd be refunding customers left and right for orders already made. As I have said before in previous posts, sometimes it is faster to go through a dealer, but not always. It just depends on where everyone falls on the time line of when they made their order and what calibers we happen to be running at the time. On the business side of things all I can offer you is a quality product in the current lead time that we have available. I don't think there's a person here that hasn't purchased something in their lifetime only to find it cheaper shortly thereafter. (I personally bought a laptop and it went on sale for $300 cheaper 2 weeks later! gah!) I can't personally make a decision for you as far as what you should or shouldn't do about your order. However if you would like to know where your barrel is in production, you can give Andy a call : Here is Andy's contact information: Andy.bhw@gmail.com 509-793-5374
