Hi. Noob here. ;D Is there an up-charge for Custom Chamberings in AR-15 barrels? I am specifically interested in the 243 LBC (didn't see it in The Store).
I see you don't offer barrel/bolt combo packages. Can I send you a bolt to lap to a custom-ordered barrel? Cost?
Thanks! -oldsev

Thanks! -oldsev Black Hole does charge $50.00 extra for chambering all of it's wildcat chamberings except the 6X45. The answer to your second question is, yes they will do a chamber using your bolt. However since this is a wildcat and you are going to be making you own brass, headspace is really a matter of how long or short do you make the brass. You will need to determine which bolt configuration you have. There are 2 different bolts that will work. When you make your order just specify which bolt you are going to use . Type one is the 7.62X39 and original bolt. It has the bolt face recessed .125 Type two is the AA bolt. The bolt face on it is .135 deep

Ritch, which bolt do you think is better for the 243 LBC, type 1 or type 2? Also what is an AA bolt? Does it stand for Alexander Arms?

This is a 7.62X39 standard bolt. The type 2 is an Alexander Arms mistake. It really does nothing more than make everything confusing for the customer. I think its another way Bill Alexander is trying to kill a great cartridge.

Ritch Thank you for your response. I have been around AR's for 40 years, but I am just a novice, and still trying to learn. I have been reading some of the posts here on BHW since November, and from what I have read, I value your's and Gregs knowledge and experience and appreciate your sharing it. I have been looking at the custom calibers and wondering what they might cost. A $50 up charge for the custom chambering sounds very reasonable and tempting. How does the 243 LBC function reliability wise. What is your opinion on a 243 LBC in a 16" mid length light profile for coyotes in the south east, where most shots are under 100 yards?
