I've searched the 6mmBR forums and can't seem to find anyone who produces these?
Its between it and the 6X6.8 for a long range target AR15 rig, any advice? I'm leaning towards the 6X6.8 since I have so much 6.8 stuff already....

I'm leaning towards the 6X6.8 since I have so much 6.8 stuff already.... I haven't seen any 6 BR AR barrels around either. The 6X68 is shooting very well with the 87's. Ritch says the 90 Bergers do very well. The 1:9 seems to be a good one for that weight. I think it might run out of twist on the 105's though. A definition of long range would be part of the equation. Are you saying 600 yards or the full Monty at 1000? Greg PS: Welcome to the BHW world. Jump in and enjoy.

Long range as in out to 1000yds. I shot a fun match the other day with my 10PC in .308, as most of the others were running .308s. There was one 6X45 there and seeing it shoot as good or better than my bolt gun sparked interest.
What if I could have a AR15 where recoil is not much but still shoot as straight as the big boys. I think the 6mm wildcats are awesome. I have a lot invested in 6.8 but haven't tried any 140gr loads to see how far she will reach.
Basically, I'm looking for a low recoil match gun where ringing steel from all kinds of positions is the norm. I also reload and extra steps like fire forming just add to the time I really don't have.
I figured the 6mmBR brass can be hand from Lapua; size, load and shoot. The 6X6.8, I will need a 6mm die to resize the neck, them I'm back to loading just as I do with 6.8.

I was also wondering about the 1/9 twist of the 6X6.8.
The lighter bullets would be cool for varmits if that were my main use but I will be loading the 87s and up for targets. I'd like to know the 1/9 is optimal for the heavy bullets?

I would like an 8 twist and if that happens I might explore a 6BRX on the AR set up with some other things needing to pass to really honk on. It is the hot ticket in a bolt gun here in Arizona. This big BC bullets would be nice to launch. At this point the 243 LBC might give you a better choice as it will shoot along with the 6X68 and let you load less bullet in the case. I will be getting one of those next week and can't wait to see how it compares with the 6X68 in a 24" as compared to the 20" 243 LBC that I just got that Kiz did such a superb job of engraving on. I like it's numbers but if I'm starting with 6.5g brass, I'm just going to build a 264LBC.
Unless Lapua or another good source starts making 243LBC brass, I might stick to something a little easier to reload since time is usually not on my side due to work.

Get your brass from Alexander Arms. $65.00 per 100. We are using a standard set of 6 PPC dies from Hornady. Using a 9 twist, and a 95 gr. VLD you can get to 1000 without a problem.
It is no more difficult to load than the 264. Just run them through the size die and seat a bullet. And the best part is it has a VLD lead in the chamber.

Without his help I'd of been floating around like a piece of wood after the Japan tsunami. Powder burned in the case is not bad and it should last a long time. Nothing like a 243 Winchester barrel burner. Greg PS: One nice thing is the Grendel mags feed the 6.8's perfectly too.
