My barrel should arrive on Monday and once I get it put together I want to start on some load development.
I'm working off of an "enlisted man's pension" so I can't go at this at full speed. But as a starting point I have on hand some CFE223, Lapua brass, 123gr Amax's and Wolf SRM primers.
I was thinking of starting at 28.5 gr of CFE223 and working up in .3gr increments, up to 30.9 or 31.2. I will be seating at magazine length (cuz that's what I have an AR for).
Does 28.5 gr seem like a safe starting load to work up from?
I also have Varget and WC844 (H335) on hand that I could try also.
Informed feedback would be appreciated.

Kurt Just pull up the Hodgdon web site. Look for the 6.5 Grendel data. It will give you powders and ranges since they are the same cartridge. Greg

There isn't any published data for CFE223 yet, there is a 6.5G forum that has a bunch of test data using the powder, thread is titled: Chrony Reports
I have no idea where you should start with you loads but that website will get you in the ballpark.

BB A call to Hodgdon is going to be a super way to get it going for data. I would look at any data on the 6 PPC and use that as a starting load for the powders if I could not find them in the Grendel area. Greg
