I have been considering purchasing a .22LR conversion for my AR. Any experience with these kits and BHW barrels? I think the ability to fire .22LR through my AR will be great for my practice sessions. Any advice on a better unit if not this one?

Joe Accuracy will be so so as the BHW bore will be bigger just like a regular one. The hot ticket is a complete 22 RF upper. I built one with a 10/22 barrel, an AR barrel extension and a Ceiner unit. It runs well on my M16. Greg

I have a ciener conversion unit . it has never been accurate when used with a 5.56 barrel, so i bought a CMMG barrel and bushing from Midway for 99.95 . and built a dedicated upper, its a tack driver now.

I was also considering using a CMMG bolt and mag so I could use my entire AR set up for training. Running a dedicated 10/22 barrel requires a new upper, .22 bcg, charging handle, hand-guards, etc. which may not (or will not due to price) be the same as my 5.56 gun.
Is there a happy medium to be found here? You say a .22 CCMG bolt/mag shoots only so so, can you be more specific as to what range I can get decent accuracy from? By decent I am talking about hitting steel 10" targets or the like.

By dropping a 22lr conversion into a 5.56 barrel you can expect about 1 1/2 " groups a 50 feet.and your sights will be off a couple of inches. Good enough for plinking and some tactical drills but not good for squirrel hunting. I got a lot of useful practice with mine.

That's about all I'm interested in doing with it, move and shoot drills, plinking, etc.
I suppose in time I may grab a .22 dedicated upper that is inexpensive, if such a thing exists, but my main interest is practicing with my weapon system without spending a heap of $$$ on ammo.
