Okay folks, being sick and bored makes my brain come up with some crazy stuff.
Has anyone thought about picking up FN 5.7 brass and making .312 projectiles for your SMLE or Mosin? The dimensions I see list its widest diameter as .312. I was thinking there are lots of junker SMLE's out there, just cut the brass to the OAL you want and pour in, or swage in for that matter the lead core you want.

Joe I've never done any bullet making but Ritch has. I would think that you could do that easily and the costs of a set of dies and a suitable swaging press shouldn't run you more than $1100 or so if my research was accurate last month. Greg

Bah Greg, there you go putting dollar amounts to my crazy scheme. $1100 will buy lots and lots of bullets, possibly more than I would need for the next several years, no swaging factory in my future any time soon, not unless they make a kit for a Lee Classic.
