Got the 18" barrel this past week and the 20" arrived today. Was some what mad when I went to take the barrel extension protector off the 18" barrel and discovered quite a bit of corrosion and "salt-like" substance build up. It cleaned up w/o any real issue... bore looked ok and no corrosion on the FS threads. I assumed that was a fluke until the 20" arrived today and the same thing... corrosion on the barrel extension. As with the 18", it cleaned up. The corrosion on the 18" was THREE TIMES AS BAD as the pic below... that's the 20" shown just for info. I realize this is a bi-product of the barrel finishing process but looks like someone was in a rush and did not prep the barrel as best as possible post finishing. I've ordered quite a few barrels over the years and I've also had custom barrels parkerized... so I know this "goes with the territory" sort of to speak. All in all it did not effect the seating of the barrel (18") in the receiver face, was very tight, which I'm happy for. Have not received a rail yet for the 20" but I'm sure it will be fine. Here are some pics... I'm very busy at the reloading bench as you can see I have lots of prepped brass ready to go. Have bullets, powder, and primers... no panic buying here... . I look forward to seeing what these barrels will do with some factory match ammo and my own home-rolled stuff.

Looks like residual bluing salts of some type. I only have one black BHW barrel and it went to Ritch from BHW so I never saw it dismounted. I'm sure the word will get past on the gunky surface.
