The progression in ammo selection by the powers that be are based on such nebulous theory and experience that it is incomprehensible to us mere mortals. Case in point the Air Marshals carry 357 SIGS. That round was chosen by DC bureaucracy. The AM program showed up at GLYNCO and when asked they flat said they had taken no bids or done any testing. At that time in history there was no frangible ammo for them. They didn't even realize such stuff existed. Greg I wonder if they saved any money with that decision. Yea right![/quote] Money was not an object to worry about. DHS/AM's were the new kid on the block and literally they had no budgetary constraints. And new powder loads can make a big difference in the equation. Look at the new Hodgdons manual out 45acp 185 and 200 gr bullets with CFE pistol powder At 1150fps within standard pressures. Makes 45 acp a powerhouse, in comparison to 9mm and 40sw and 357mag.
