I have a LBC .264 built with an 18" barrel from AR Performance that I built last year that has the 5R rifling. I ordered a 24" match bull barrel last week from BHW with the Polygonal 3 groove rifling and am curious of how much will the improved sealing of the bullet effect reloading for my new build? Has anyone experienced any significant difference for reloading for the different type rifling?

Has anyone experienced any significant difference for reloading for the different type rifling? Having never shot an ARP barrel this is a question that is difficult to answer. I can give you some general facts about reloading for polygonal rifled barrels. They typically like to run on the hot side of the load charts. They are usually faster than an Infield rifled barrel. Loads you shoot in a Black Hole barrel will most likely show signs of over pressure in your other barrel. The other benefits of a BHW barrel are many. They foul less, they are easier to clean, throats last longer than Infield rifling which translates to longer barrel life with a higher degree of accuracy.

Welcome to the board. Ritch summed it up well. He and I were talking about the 264 last PM and we will be shooting some more test groups in the next few weeks. A bit more data for you and a chance to put yours up when your new tube arrives.
Once again...Welcome.

Thanks for this information. Sound like I should be OK to start then with any loads I have worked up once the BHW barrel build is completed in a couple months. I am looking forward to working with this type rifling.

I am looking forward to working with this type rifling. I wouldn't jump right in with ARP MAX loads but I believe you will be pleased to see the results on accuracy and velocities. Greg
