This project is taking forever from my point of view but I think is rounding the corner for the stretch. Based on the 6.8 but a bit bigger than the HRT. The project was invisoned by the owner of BHW and Ritch and I are putting it together. He has been working out the load development and I am being tasked with setting up directions for the case forming. My new barrel will be here shortly and once I have the easy peasy worked out sales wil be announced. We have gone through two reamers and a couple barrels getting this one right. This group was shot on 6-19-14. 110 VMAX over a stout charge of H4198. 100 yards out of a 16" BHW AR barrel. CTC on this one for five shots was 0.397. The rifle is feeding 100% and so far everything looks GTG This one will be a good deer/hog cartridge. Greg

I can tell you this. The American 30 is coming along great. We are now pressure testing load data for it. The results are better than we expected. It works with bullets from 110grains to 150 grains without a problem. And the speeds are up there as well.

Hi guys, I'm new here and interested in knowing more about the American 30. Will it use regular 6.8 mags or do they need to be modified?
TIA

I would love to see the accuracy of this round out of a 20" 1:17 or 1:18 twist BHW barrel with the match grade 110-118gr bullets. Nothing is more fun than using a black rifle to up ending the fancy single shot BR rifles at the local gun range!

Realistically I don't foresee any slow twist 30's in the future. Not much demand for that in an AR. That being said the regular twists can turn in some almost screamers on their own.

were is the cheapest place to buy dies? Actually I got some off gunbroker and a couple other places. I would go to Amazon and look. My new Hornady Herrett dies came from Optics Planet through them. They made a run last year. Greg

I know that the A 30 is based off the 6.8spc case, and most use 16in or 18in barrels for that round, and I see you guys offer it up to 20in, is any plans on a 24in length or is there not much gain from the 20in length to make it worth while?

Very minimal gaon past 20" thanks to the expansion ratio of the 30 caliber. I'm a long barrel preference guy and I won't be looking to run one. I firmly believe that 20" is all in on this one. That being said I'm sure they would do a 24" if you wanted to give it a whirl. If it's an AR barrel make sure you DO NOT use a rifle lenght gas. Greg
