Okay I am wanting to upgrade my 264 LBC. I don't want a variable scope this time so should I go for a 12x or 16x? I intend on shooting anywhere from 300yrd to 1000yrd. The particular model is the swfa ss series

The particular model is the swfa ss series I would go with the 16 power. That is about the minimum I would use at 1000. You have got to be able to see the target clearly to hold for the wind.

Well I w ent with a 12x. That way I can develop some loads and still see a goof field at short yardage(500 yards).

I shoot a lot of 4.4X14's and they do OK at distance. I am more comfortable with a 20 at 500 and beyound but I'm shooting mostly F-Class and want to see the X. Greg

I think the 12 was a good call. I shoot a vortex razor that's 5-20 and I rarely use the upper 15-20 power limit due to target transitions and amplified mirage at the higher magnification powers. If you're looking to do single long range stationary targets then more power to ya--pun intended. But if your shooting involves near and far targets in rapid sequence, the lower powers can have a definite advantage. Congrats on the scope!
