Really looking forward to this season. Already shot one PRS match in Vegas. This weekend starts the sporting rifle match at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton NM. Once a month from Feb - Sep natural terrain match. This is my favorite match. It is only 60 rds ( 10 stages 6 targets per stage, one shot per target), but very challenging. Target ranges are 240 to 875 yds, 6" circle or 6" sq turned to a diamond out to 375yds and 12" circle or 12"sq turned to a diamond. This will be the 11th year and it has never been cleaned. Course record is 59 set by David Tubb several years ago. Next major matches that I have signed up for so far through April are OPPS Shoot for the Green in Oklahoma, New Mexico Precision Rifleman's Championship in Albuquerque and JC Steel Target Challenge in Spokane Wa.
I am assistant match director for a monthly match at PWSA in Pueblo Co.
We are very lucky here in Colorado. I can shoot a rifle or pistol or sometimes both every weekend within a 3 hour drive. Some square ranges and some natural terrain. Sure is hard on the bank account, but don't care life is too short to not enjoy it.
Wishing everyone luck in their comps this year.
