I know this is a slightly older topic but I figured I would weigh in. I have a factory savage barrel I just shot out but at 22" I was getting 3090 fps with the 123 amax and re17. I am in the process of researching barrels and just found this site again after a few years. Welcome back. The Savage barrels really shoot. Greg

I had BHW do a 6.5x47Lapua (my reamer) for my Savage 10BA recently. It shoots better than I can. 0.5moa or better is easy, even with my shaky old hands. Early proponents of this cartridge guessed that 130gr bullets would be max for this case. They did not know about RL-17.
I'm getting 2800fps from a 26in bbl with 140gr Berger VLD's (B.C. .612) and RL-17 without pressure signs. Began to see pressure signs slightly above this. H4350 was 150fps slower.
I chose the 6.5x47 over the Creedmoor for the small primer pocket. More accurate and stronger case head.
I'm waiting to have them do a 6x47 for me as soon as they set up for barrels longer than 26in.
