Would like to try a 6.8 with a longer than 20 inch barrel, to be used for target shooting and hunting. Does anyone out there have any experience with the lightweight profile barrels longer than 20 inches in length? Another option I was considering is going for the standard profile and pay extra for fluting. Weight is an important issue for me when shooting off-hand due to prior shoulder injuries.

I've shot some light weight 20" guns but nothing as big as the 6.8. Te accuracy should be adequate for your needs. It won't be something you shoot in F-Class but for general target/hunting it will do fine. The 6.8 will pick up some speed at 24" over a 20" but IMHO for most needs/application is is a minimal ballistic advantage. If weight due to an injury is a major factor I would forgo the 100 FPS and stick with a light 20.
