Anyone know of any promotion codes to use for BHW? I've purchased three other barrels from surplusammo.com but surplus doesn't seem to carry the 243lbc.

There are no sales or codes at this time. You do get a 10% discount go for being a member here.
SSA never carries the 243LBC.

I've found a machinist that makes brakes. He's asking me for the diameter of the barrel at the muzzle.

I just measured five barrels 739-740. I would call BHW for verification. Greg

So I am likely going to have to order a mid length gas system to match my existing lower. Holy cow! Just the barrel with nothing special done to it is $400! Bolt is another $70. Then $16 shipping. I may not be building this upper after all.

I may misunderstand but it is my understanding that a carbine length buffer tube with associated spring and heavy buffer will not function properly with a rifle length system. Please correct me if I'm wrong/misinformed.

Well then I'm glad I posted here!!!! Good to know. Someone swore to me that a rifle length gas system on a carbine lower setup would destroy the bolt.

It is a common misconception about the carbine lower deal. The flip side would be that we couldn't run a carbine upper on a rifle lower then. I run everything from 17-223 to 458 SOCOM on rifle and carbine lowers. No heavy buffers or anything. Most of mine will run adjustable gas blocks because I handload and I highly recommend them but they aren't necessarily needed in many uses. Greg
