Anyone have a 338 Federal and what are your impressions? I'm interested in doing a build on a DPMS receiver and am curious what others experiences are...what barrel length works best, twist rate, etc. I'm thinking 20" in 1x10...
Also, can a light profile barrel in that caliber have fluting before and after the gas block?

You will have to contact SALES as they do not monitor this site and they will have all the information on what profiles can be done. I doubt if a light profile will lend itself to fluting. Greg |

I personally have not heard of any but I am not that knowledgeable on non-traditional big frame chamberings. You might try to chat with JP in Sales. I've have zero experience with the new plastic magazines in the 10. Greg |

I rock a BHW barrelled 338 Federal... I hope you don't any other rifles because they are about to become obsolete....
Built mine on a aero m5 set... 18 inches with a superlative arms block... Unique at handguard and nothing but reloads... Well under 1 inch at 100 yards..Usually between 0.5 and 0.75 inch groups at 100...
I hit pigs with one of two bullets.... 160 gr ttsx or 200 gr SST...It honestly depends on if I can find the ttsx bullets in stock....
Both drop 300+ lb pigs easily...But those Barnes bullets take it to a whole new level....If you put it on the 8inch pie plate and let the bullet eat.... They drop like a sack of shit.... Internals are jello..
The 200 gr SST works good on pigs but not close to the Barnes...
Now when it comes to recoil I can honestly say with my APA lil bastard on there and the gas block tuned to the loads... It feels almost like a 223... But less
I'm in love with he round ...It's a great round
