i ordered an barrel from BHW and contacted Tactical Ammo for an "Dragon;s Head" muzzle brake to be timed by BHW. i received the barrel Saturday and all looks good, then i realize that i have to remove the brake to install the gas block. i know to mark barrel and brake so that i may reinstall to correct position. while checking out the brake and barrel i wondered why does this brake need to be timed, there are no side or top ports and the front ports don't seem to be lined up in any fashion at all. question is, how do they time this type of brake? anybody know? thanks for any input.

Bruce I timed mine with a jam nut. The only thing I wanted was the writing on the side. Pure aesthetics as it makes no difference where in the rotation it sets. I think Ritch used some peel washers. thanks for the info Greg. i thought it needed to be timed in some special manner like a brake with side and top ports. i guess i paid $15 for nothing then. i myself could have tightened the jam-nut that comes with the brake. live and learn, next time i will do it myself. thanks again for the reply.
i will say that the barrel and brake do look nice though. i still need a few more parts to finish my upper. Bruce
