I was able to run some loads over a chronograph a few days ago. These were fired in an AR built around an AR-Stoner 20" 1-8 5R barrel.
First loads were AR-Comp behind an 85 gr Sierra BTHP GK bullet. LC cases and Tula SRM primer. 2.260 OAL 24 gr - 2669 fps, 40 ES 24.5 gr - 2714 fps, 29 ES 25 gr - 2740, 17 ES
25 gr H335 - 2728 fps, 32 ES
The AR-Comp 25 gr load is slightly compressed. Just starts to show slight signs of pressure.
90 gr Sierra FMJBT, LC Cases, Tula SRM primer, 2.260 OAL 22.1 gr AA2200 - 2585 fps, 25 ES
55 gr Nosler Varmageddon, LC cases, Tula SRM primer, 2.260 OAL 26 gr AA2200 - 3263 fps, 22 ES This load is mild. It would not lock the bolt back on an empty mag a couple of times. Lots of fun. Will blow up anything it hits.
These loads are safe in my rifle Usual disclaimers apply.

How does your Stoner barrel shoot? I want to try some Varmageddons in my 243 lbc sometime.

Thanks for the information. I have tried AR-Comp with a basic load using different 6mm 80 gr. projectiles. Definitely potential there. With the ASC SS magazines I can set the OAL to 2.295". Need to get the Chrony out to do some ladder tests and push the envelope. My new 6.8 SPC AR has bumped my 6x45mm testing for now.
Thanks again for the post. Glenn

I think the barrel will be fine but what I dislike about all the STONER barrels is that you never know who makes them. It is a low bidder approach and Midway changes all the time. Like their magazines are sometimes ASC and other times who knows. There is a reason why they have a great price on some items. They were selling Grendel II barrels made by Satern for a long time and that change. My understanding is they started getting them from some outfit overseas. Not good. This is seen with many companies out there that purport to be fantastic and are extremely cheap yet they don't make the barrels and won't tell you who does. On a $150.00 barrel it's hardly a trade secret and everyone is not going to go out and fill up that company with orders. Sure you get reports of great groups shot yet anecdotally the groups are never posted. After all when was the last time that someone says I bought XYZ barrel from BADMAN and it shoots like dog poop. No, he'll say I bought XYZ barrel from BADMAN and it shoots under an MOA all day long ad most groups are 0.5 at 100. No posts of the groups are seen unless they are shot at 50 yards and then usually three shot groups that really measure more like 1.5 MOA. This is consistent across the sales sites on many barrel SELLERS not manufacturers. Keep up the reports on how it does. 6X45's are some of the easiest out there to get to shoot. I own five of them LOL. Greg

Greg's advice here is a must read before buying a barrel. I totally agree with his view. I see so many comments saying shoots "moa" . No mention though as to shooting distance and no pics to support. And then does the shooter know how to actually measure a group? I've seen some that measure the outside edges to come up with a group size, inside and so on , so on. Geez.
Barrel buying. Advertisement says "Match Grade" but then never mentions who the manufacturer is. Then some ads say a name of someone never heard of and claim to be great! Such as "XYZ Match ". Okay XYZ, why is it match grade?
Some of these barrels might shoot a sub moa group. But will they do it repeatedly? Are they a SOB to clean?
But here I digress. For I have tried some of these barrels myself,,,,,,and have learned from it. Trying manufacturers using the same caliber it was eye opening. Like comparing a Dodge Neon to a M5 Beemer. The Neon would keep them in a door knob size group, but the M5 would put em through the keyhole.(repeatedly)
Of course a budget comes into play. Buy the best quality you can afford. Would rather have one still enjoying and supporting the shooting sports than not. My 2cts.

I understand this forum is run by a barrel manufacturer but I was simply trying to share some 6x45 load data, not start a discussion on the merits of different barrels.
Since it has I'll add this. I agree, that with barrels you get what you pay for. I guess I got lucky with this particular barrel.

The choices are huge out there and well documented data is always a good thing. Remember though that an Enfield rifled barrel will develop pressures differently than the polygonal type. Greg

My 20" barrel which is an AR Stoner pushing 87 Berger VLD Hunting gets over 2800fps and shoots some groups USING XBR 8208. Tried H335 AND it hit 2900 but was all over the place 4 shot group. These are loaded a bit long. I notched out the front of the mag so I can only load 5 at a time since we only shoot 3 in a match it's a non issue. FWIW my wife had never shot past 200 and the gun 600 yet my wife went 2 for 3 at 1000y with this AR. Attachments:
