Has anyone had good luck with any spherical powders when loading for max velocity with the 95gr SMK? The reason I ask is that I'm currently loading everything on a Dillon 550. I've been happy the consistency of 8208 through it but that's been for a 6.5 Grendel mainly used for hunting and mid range target shooting, so 3/4 MOA and 35 fps max velocity spread is quite acceptable and easily accomplished. When I get a 243 LBC put together I would like to tighten those numbers considerably.

Many of us don't use ball powders as you can have issues in compressing them and they can be, in certain cases, heat sensitive. Hodgdon gets a lot of our loads with the extruded Extreme powders and the rounds seem to perform well with them. There is no reason that you can't use a good ball powder in the LBC and do well if you choose to work with them.. Just grab a top end 6 PPC load and work up to the 6 BR lower levels and you will be fine. A chronograph is your friend. Greg

I'll probably give Ramshot TAC and Accurate 2520 a try but I'm slowly convincing myself I need to get a single stage press and some accurate powder metering tools just for precision loading. Especially if 8208 xbr is as awesome for the 243 as it is for the Grendel.
